NVF shall promote development in the fields of roads, road traffic, and road transport through cooperation between professionals in Denmark, Finland, the Faroe Islands, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden. A crucial part of this effort is to disseminate knowledge about the various components and application perspectives of the road transport system. The Swedish national association therefore annually awards a pedagogical prize of 25,000 SEK for contributions in one or more of its areas of operation. The prize is awarded to an individual or group who excels in the following criteria:
- Strong personal commitment to a subject area within NVF’s field of operation, recognized teaching skills, and interest in pedagogical development.
- A scientific approach to learning, both in terms of the choice of pedagogical methods and grounding the educational content in scientific literature. This also includes staying well updated with the research frontier in the subject area.
- The ability to tailor pedagogical efforts to the target group, regarding both the level and content as well as pedagogical methods.
- The ability to connect with and stimulate the target group’s interest, create a sense of involvement, and encourage critical thinking.
- The ability to take a systems perspective on the subject matter so that the knowledge building achieved is as closely related to society and reality as possible.
- The ability to inspire target groups to increased cooperation both nationally and internationally and to foster engagement that leads to innovation and continued development in the road transport field.
